Vox Luminis s’attaque désormais à Jean-Sébastien lui-même, dans un programme de Cantates, composées dans les années 1707/1708, donc parmi les premières du compositeur. L’album présente notamment la poignante Cantate « Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit » (« Le temps de Dieu est le meilleur des temps ») BWV 106, également connue sous le nom d’ « Actus tragicus », composée par Bach pour des funérailles. Bach a donc 22 ans lorsqu’il compose cette cantate, qui s’ouvre sur un bouleversant dialogue de flûtes à bec et se poursuit par le tout aussi fervent choeur « Gottes Zeit »…
